Diploma in Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology

Diploma in Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology (DOTAT) is a diploma program offered by Lisie College of Allied Health sciences.

Introduction :

A variety of electrical and electronic equipments are in use in modern theatres for anaesthesia & surgery. There is increased need for qualified & trained hands for the trouble-free performance of these equipments & for skilled anaesthesia. This course is aimed at satisfying these needs of the society.

Objective :The course is intended to train the candidates

  • To assist the anaesthesiologists
  • Operation and maintenance of all theatre and ICU equipment along with the Medical Gas pipeline system
On Passing the student should be able :
  • Set the anaesthesia machine, monitors, laryngoscopes, endotracheal tubes prepare, IV fluids IV lines & drugs tray as appropriate to the anaesthetic technique
  • Assist the anaesthesiologist in starting Intravenous lines, positioning the patients, performing conduction blockade, induction, intubation, maintenance, recovery from anaesthesia, transfer to recovery area & stabilization in post anaesthesia care unit & monitor the patients till discharge to the post operative ward.
  • Should be able to maintain the anaesthetic equipments, monitors, ventilators, central gas pipeline system & keep the equipment log book, narcotic register up to date
  • To ensure the supply of medical gases and working of suction apparatus
